Modern Slavery Policy FAQs

Do I Need a Modern Slavery Policy?

If your business turns over more than £36,000,000 annually, you are required to have a modern slavery policy published on your website which explains the steps your business is taking to reduce the possibility of human slavery across the supply chain.

Does a Small Business Need a Modern Slavery Policy?

No. You are only required to make a slavery and human trafficking statement each year if your business earns over a certain amount. Although a small business isn’t required to publish a modern slavery policy by law, you do still have the option to publish a modern slavery policy. This doesn’t have any legal benefits necessarily, however, it looks good to internal and external stakeholders.

What is the Modern Slavery Act Policy in the UK?

The Modern Slavery Act (2015) was put in place to protect against human trafficking, slavery, and all forms of exploitation across the supply chain of materials. Commercial companies earning over £36,000,000 annually are required to publish a slavery and human trafficking statement each year.
