Butane is a highly flammable hydrocarbon gas that plays a vital role in various industries due to its diverse applications. Primarily recognised for its use in lighter refills, butane serves as an efficient and portable fuel source for camping stoves, allowing outdoor enthusiasts to cook meals with ease. In addition to these practical uses, butane is commonly found in aerosol sprays, where it serves as a propellant, allowing for the even distribution of products such as deodorants, hair sprays, and household cleaners.
Beyond its applications in everyday products, butane is integral to the chemical industry. It is utilised as a building block in the synthesis of various organic compounds, contributing to the production of plastics, rubber, and other essential materials. The versatility of butane underscores its significance not only as a fuel but also as a key player in the manufacturing of numerous chemicals, reflecting its importance in both consumer products and industrial processes.
