Bostik Acrylic Sealant COSHH Assessment Form

No Nonsense Silicone Sealant COSHH Assessment

A pre-filled COSHH Assessment Form for Acrylic Sealant, with some example text reading:

Spillage and environmental:

Non-toxic.

Mobility: Store in a cool, well-ventilated area. Keep the container tightly closed.

Accidental release: Do not discharge into drains or rivers. Contain the spillage using bunding, then absorb it into dry earth or sand. Use the appropriate method to transfer to a closable, labelled salvage container for disposal.

Bostik Idenden 40-317 High Velocity Acrylic Duct Sealant is a water-borne, grey acrylic paste formulated for sealing joints in low- and high-velocity heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) metal ductwork. Once applied, it creates a durable, flexible barrier that helps reduce air leakage and supports efficient pressure control throughout the duct system.

Key Features, Performance and Application Benefits

Pressure Retention: The cured sealant forms a tough yet flexible seal around duct joints, helping to prevent air leakage and maintain internal system pressure. It can achieve the required seal without additional tape, simplifying installation and reducing the number of materials needed.

Safety and Performance Ratings: The sealant is waterproof and flame retardant, making it suitable for demanding ductwork environments where moisture and fire performance are important considerations. It complies with BS 476 Parts 6 and 7 and supports duct systems designed to meet DW144 Class C/D air-leakage requirements.

Durability: With a service temperature range of -30°C to +95°C, the seal remains suitable across a wide range of operating conditions. Its resistance to fungal growth also helps preserve the integrity of the sealed joint in environments where moisture may otherwise encourage biological growth.

Application and Clean-up: Apply the paste with a skeleton gun to clean, dry metal joints so that the sealant can make consistent contact with the substrate. Its water-borne formulation lets you clean tools and remove excess material with water while the product is still wet, keeping installation straightforward.
