Our customers feedback are a testimony to the value of our products.

Accidents involving falls from height or objects falling from height are a persistent hazard in many sectors of the construction industry and bricklaying doesn’t escape these risks. Other common risks include manual handling incidents and same level slips, trips and falls.

There’s also substance risks from products like cement and lime that can cause accidental injuries to eyes and skin as well as more long term diseases from breathing in dust and long term contact.

Hearing loss, eye and skin damage from objects been ejected from power tools moving parts and hand arm vibration are all risks associated with power tools such as rotating saws and angle grinders.

Sun burn and skin damage from long term sun exposure is also a risk that needs consideration.

The standard H&S documents requested buy most companies now are the RAMS that are included in this product as well as a company H&S policy if you employ 5 or more staff.

However, the list of additional documents that some principal contractors or CDM sites ask for can be far greater and include such things as staff training records, an anti slavery policy, a lone worker policy, an equality and diversity policy, a waste management policy… The list can go on depending at the principal contractors behest.

We’re often asked why we don’t include a company H&S policy within this document. The reason for this is that the H&S policy isn’t specific to the works you are tendering for, instead it lists the general approach your company has to H&S, including who is responsible for what.

With the construction industry having such a high accident and fatality rate compared t many other industries it is always worth considering training all staff in manual handling, asbestos awareness, working at height and slips, trips and falls.

This training is readily available as online courses which staff can carry out on a device of their choice at a time and location that suits them.

Job specific training is absolutely essential and this can be done in many ways including, tool box talks, handing out fliers, notices, handing out new risk and method statements or just a chat. Either way its importance can’t be dismissed. Imagine if you’ve promised a contract manager that your staff will carry out a specific task in a certain way, but you haven’t told the staff.
