Entry Requirements: Anyone can complete this Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Course, Level 1, whether they have previous experience or not.
This is a three-module Level 1 course on safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
- Module 1 defines safeguarding, distinguishes it from child protection and explains its central principles. It outlines relevant UK legislation, organisational responsibilities, the Designated Safeguarding Lead’s role and multi-agency cooperation.
- Module 2 covers physical, emotional and sexual abuse and neglect, including possible warning signs and risk factors. It explains how to respond calmly to a disclosure, create an accurate factual record, report concerns promptly and share information appropriately.
- Module 3 uses case studies to demonstrate professional curiosity, correct safeguarding procedures and reflective practice. It encourages learners to assess their knowledge and create SMART development goals.
The course emphasises that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Individuals should remain observant, take disclosures seriously, avoid conducting their own investigations and promptly report concerns through the appropriate safeguarding channels.
