Who in a company typically requires modern slavery training?
This is a question we often get asked, and there seems to be confusion amongst many about who in a company typically requires modern slavery training. To answer this question, the best solution is to train everyone. An inexpensive, short two-hour course would have everyone aware of what to look out for, and the more eyes and ears on the ground, the better the chance of spotting the signs of modern slavery.
If time and money don’t permit training everyone, then a selection of employees should be chosen to undergo the training. It's important to remember that modern slavery training teaches employees to identify warning signs and report their concerns, so if most employees work on the shop floor, it might not be beneficial to train a payroll clerk who doesn’t work alongside the majority of the company.
As a bare minimum, we believe that people in a company who typically require modern slavery training include:
- Executives, Leadership, Directors
- Human Resources Department
- Supply Chain and Procurement Teams
- Employees in Risk-Prone Areas
- Supervisors, Managers, Gang leaders
High-risk sectors where any abuse or slavery issues have a higher chance of occurring will need monitoring more closely, and they include:
- Construction
- Agriculture
- Hospitality
- Manufacturing
- Logistics
- Retail
- Care
