The FAST test is an important, easy-to-use tool that helps identify stroke signs quickly. It focuses on three key symptoms: Facial drooping, Arm weakness, and Speech difficulties. Recognising these symptoms and acting fast by calling emergency services can make a big difference in someone's recovery. This test is not just for healthcare professionals; anyone can use it to help save lives. The key steps of the TAST test include:

• F - Face: Ask the person to smile. Check if one side of their face droops or looks different than the other side, as this could indicate a stroke.
• A - Arm: Have them raise both arms at the same time. Look for any arm that falls lower than the other or any difficulty lifting an arm. This might signal weakness.
• S - Speech: Encourage the person to say a simple sentence. Listen closely for slurred speech or confusion, which can also be signs of a stroke.
• T – Time: If you notice any of these symptoms, it’s crucial to call emergency services (like 999) right away. Every minute counts in these situations, and the faster help arrives, the better the chances of recovery.
