Slips, Trips, and Falls Safety Training

Slips, Trips, and Falls Safety Training
Slips, trips, and falls safety training is a workplace safety course designed to teach employees how to identify, prevent, and reduce the risks associated with walking-surface accidents. It focuses on maintaining proper housekeeping and on identifying hazards such as wet floors or trailing cables.
In the year ending 2024, 31% of all non-fatal workplace injuries were made up of slips, trips and falls on the same level
Slips, trips, and falls safety training is designed to educate candidates in the following topics, with the overall aim of reducing accidents at the workplace:
- Awareness Identification: Being aware of surroundings is a key factor in staying safe. That means paying attention to things that might be dangerous, like wet floors that could make us slip, uneven ground that could cause us to trip, dim lighting that makes it hard to see, and clutter that can block the way.
- Prevention Techniques: Participants will learn useful ways to prevent accidents, focusing on a simple method called "See it, Sort it." This approach encourages everyone to pay attention and take action when they notice something that could be dangerous. For example, if someone spots a spill on the floor, they should not only clean it up but also notify the right person right away.
- Types of Incidents: Understanding the different types of accidents is crucial for effectively managing safety. It’s important to know the differences between a slip, which happens when your shoes don’t grip the floor well enough; a trip, which occurs when someone bumps into something in their way; and a fall, which results from losing your balance.
- Risk Assessment & Control: People will learn how to carefully inspect their workspaces for potential hazards. This means learning to spot hazards that could cause accidents, and taking preventive measures, such as adding mats to prevent slipping, keeping loose cables out of the way to avoid tripping, and improving lighting in dark areas.
Slips, trips, and falls safety training courses are available online and typically take about an hour to complete, with costs ranging from £10 to £35.00 per person.
