Solvent cement is a specialised adhesive designed to chemically bond and create a watertight seal between PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), CPVC (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride), and ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) pipes and fittings. This process involves the application of solvent cement, which softens the surfaces of the materials involved. Through a chemical reaction, the adhesive allows the molecules of the pipes and fittings to interlink, resulting in a robust and uninterrupted section of plastic.

This method is widely favoured in various applications, including plumbing, where secure and leak-proof connections are critical for ensuring proper water flow and preventing leaks. It is particularly valuable in water and wastewater systems, where maintaining the integrity of joints is essential for operational efficiency and environmental protection.

Additionally, solvent cement is extensively utilised in the chemical processing and manufacturing industries, where high-pressure and high-temperature conditions often prevail. In these settings, the strength and reliability of the connections formed are paramount, as they must withstand demanding operational environments. By providing a durable and dependable bond, solvent cement plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of piping systems across various sectors.
